Dec 27th Blue TC3 - Written off

Gee Im a dick! My last post was actually meant to update you on the results of the DRA Report on my house, whether it is a 'Rebuild' or a 'Repair', and ummm I didnt even mention it :)

The post I put up 'Dec 6th....' I mentioned that I was still waiting on the results of the DRA report to be able to move ahead, well baby steps anyway. And guess what? The very next day insurance rang me and said the DRA was in the post with their decision. Of course I wanted to know there and then. I was told that the house is a write off/rebuild. Yes I did want that as I hate my house now, but still it's hard to hear that. A couple of days later on the Friday it arrived in the mail.

There are four options:
1 Rebuild on the same land
2 Rebuild on different land
3 Buy a house
4 Cash settlement

It is probably best I don't state too much at this time. I really want to build on this land as I love the Port Hills view, and of course the Heathcote river and track. But I still have to wait for EQC to do their Land Activity Claim before I know whether I can rebuild on this land. All the other options also leave you still responsible for the land if you leave it. Also once the house is demolished EQC cover ceases, so its like a hit and run, only opposite. With all that is happening each day it is hard to get proper dedicated time to fully concentrate on making your 'Informed decision' as required, but its also not something you hastily decide on.

Spoke with insurance and said that what energy is left, would be all wasted if I decide to rebuild on the land, only to be told later that the land is too damaged. But she did say that at least it is a step and if committed, to fully concentrate on that path, then there would be appointments with a Claims Manager, and Arrow to go through what is required, what I need, what they can do etc.....

With the earthquakes the other day, it wont make much difference to me with the house a write off I suppose, and I might just get charged more, plus another excess if I put in another Claim. A bit silly if I did I think, Im not after their money, I just want to hold on to what I have. Too much has been lost over the years, and this house is my last possession. I do have a few questions, but will not put these on here as of yet.

Hope you all got through Xmas ok, and had either a beautiful hot day, or lots of snow, wherever you are!

Dec 3rd view from my house over the Ferrymead skies - Beautiful!
