I must start by saying, when I got home from work last night there was a letter from AMI. I was apparently eligible for a Premium discount due to being over the cap? Anyway the amount was backdated and was just over $100. That was a nice surpsie and something I had never heard of...1st Nov:
Well I got the calll from Bill from the Council. He needed to know more information on my situation and was surprised that I had not been informed about what was being done on my property over the last so many months.
Bill advised that my lateral pipes in the front were Council responsibility and had been fixed. I asked about the big hole still in my garden,plus the broken driveway and he said he would get on to the people who had been looking after my property and they would contact me, he seemed very nice and at least he got back to me. Telling me about the lateral pipes was the most information I had been told to date. But what about the big hole that at the bottom shows my pipes completely smashed by the sump? (Prior post has a pic)
But now I did know that the lateral pipes out the front are Council responsibility and the back laterals are EQC/Insurance. Damn didn't know there were varied laterals, and whatever other types of pipes there is. I may have been doing a heap of research in the last 14 months but I didnt delve in pipe types.
The contractor who I thought would ring did not, but I did get a call from another contractor about the pipes. so yes still as confused as before, on whose doing what on my property. The guy who rang me said he wanted to come take a look at the pipes,but at the time was busy on another job.
I have had a workmate stay with me from Wellington the last few nights so was too tired to update blog last night, hence two days worth
2nd Nov:
There was a knock on my door this morning just after 7am, a contractor came to talk to me about my back pipes. He pointed to part of my patio/decking near the outdoor spa and said this is where the back laterals are stuffed. I told him I often looked down the cracks between the decking floorboards and could see large cracks,uneven broken lifted conrete etc, and he said this is exactly where the damage is.
Damn thats right by the spa, and the decking has to be ripped up, but I really want to be there when they do this to see the condition underneath, camera in hand. He said it is surprising there is no strong smell. Sheesh what have I been telling people the last 6 months, it stinks at times out there.........Mission this weekend is to remove anything from that area. But this is for EQC he said.
so I rang EQC, and for the second time this week I got a nice call centre person who didnt sound like he was in his school lunch break and wanted to know all the details.
I did find out, since we have gone Green but under TC3 (Technical code 3), besides a geotech report being required (EQC said they would pay this), my property would be reassessed in December due to some 'Land Exposure Claim'. I asked what I was meant to do in the meantime and he was umming and ahhing whether to assign Fletcher for temporary Emergency repair to the back pipes. He mentioned whether it would come under $2000, or maybe it is over that, which I told him that it would be over the $2000.
After hanging up the phone I think he was enlisting Fletchers as he said something about them contacting me in approx 2 weeks. I said it needs to be sorted as my son just being diagnosed with Kerataconus, needed to have clean surroundings and hygiene and see where and what things are, and the dude said that if I sent in a medical report on it, it would rush the emergency repairs. He was very nice about this...... BUT.........
If I remember rightly when we were going to the specialist and my son was diagnosed with this I didnt receive a confirmation mail, just verbally, and spoke about the required surgery. So I rang the sepcialsit today and spoke with his P.A...I was taken back by her atttitude, why did I need to explain myself and what business was it of hers what his condition had to do with our situation.
All I asked for was a medical report confirming my son's condition, she asked why, then what has it got to do with earthquakes, why did I need it, what was I planning on doing with it.............grrrrrrrrrrr I am so mad, it was as though she thought I trying to get a report to get money out of the government. I told her that due to the unhygenic place we are living in, I need this to rush emergency repairs.
Then she told me I will have to write a letter to the Specialist requesting this and stating why........Im getting mad just writing this. In the end I told her not to worry Ill find some paperwork at home or something ...$%^^&*&*((
The hospital eye clinic need not treat us like their pet dog runaway crim!
Tomorrow I will ring the Doctor from Vision One who tried all he could to help us over the last 6 months, and will ask him to send me something.
I am appalled at the treatment from this PA lady, I go to work every day, work hard, deal with the issues at home, pay my taxes, keep out of trouble, only to be talked to like that
